Director of the film 'Newton', Amit V Masurkar has expressed the hope that the doors of political cinema will open to get his film National Award for Best Film.

New Delhi: 65th National Film Award was announced on Friday. Film 'Newton' director Amit V. Masurkar expressed hope that after getting his National Film Award for Best Film, the doors would open for relevant political cinema in India.

Expressing gratitude to the jury for giving the award to 'Newton', Amit said in a statement, "I hope this award and commercial success of the film will make a lot of space for relevant political cinema." He said, "It is not possible without the cooperation of a team of best artists, units and people of Chhattisgarh where this film is filmed."

Rajkumar Rao starrer 'Newton' has shown the story of a government clerk who tries to hold fair elections in Naxal-hit Chhattisgarh. The 90th Oscar Awards were sent by India on behalf of India. Let the actor Pankaj Tripathi win the 'Special Mention' award for 'Newton'.

Amit says that this is a commercial film. Masurkar made this remark while interacting with actor Krishna Singh, co-writer Mayank Tiwari and composer Naren Chandawarkar of 'Newton'. Asked whether they are ready for specific commercial masala movies or not? Masurkar said, "It all depends on the script. If such scripts come to me then why not? I believe Newton is a commercial film."

He said, "Professional films are those people who watch in theaters, so I would say that Newton was a commercial film because people went to the theaters and saw it and connected it." Actor Pankaj Tripathi received Special Mention in the 65th National Film Awards for his presentation in 'Newton'.
